Why is this site called Faith Collapsing?Simple, really. It was the name of my WWIV bulletin board back from 1996 to 2001. Some of the old ANSI welcome screens survived the transition onto the web, and can still be found here.Which doesn't answer the question, really. Yes, it's the title of a Ministry song, but there's more to it than that. That was a pretty rough period of my life, and one where I wrestled a lot with the concept of faith, the concept of God. My faith did collapse - but like most things that collapse, it grew back again. So how did you make this site? Why did you do it this way?I learned a lot of my programming (and HTML) from looking at other people's examples - and seeing in what interesting ways I could put them together. You can see another example of my recent work at The Wenches A Wailin' Fansite or The Immaculate Conception PREP page, or the Immaculate Conception website.I do not use frames on my sites. This is largely because I used to use a non-frames compatible browser - and know some who still do (for various reasons). Further, the frames-within-frames thing just ends up driving me nuts. Graphics are intentionally segregated as much as possible and optimized both for those who are still on dial-up and for general ease of use. I've tried to make the navigation on the right side of the page as intuitive and easy to follow as I can. Java, Javascript, flash, and other bells and whistles are minimized for similar reasons - I want you to look at content, not some flash animation. The right-sided-column format aids search engine placement, as the actual content of the page will be seen in the synopsis on the sites (hopefully). I use freeware stuff whenever available; there are many sites out there that have some, but a great resource is Sourceforge for open-source software.
