Being in which the director rambles on, and everyone just
looks at it to say they "truly understand" his work, a.k.a. the DVD
extra no-one uses.

These are all programs or resources I found
extremely useful in the construction of the adventures or this site.
Various Notes
- I've stolen an idea from Robert Anton Wilson's
_The
Illuminatus Trilogy_ in that I have an entity (read the book if you
want to know what) imprisoned in the Pentagon. As is revealed in
the prologue for Warp and Weave, the terrorists did not simply want to
cause terror - they were fanatical cultists who wished to release the
Great Old One. Admit it - that would explain a LOT of things post
9/11, wouldn't it?
- I've gone with the "Gang of Scoobies" concept -
if there are Slayers in my
world, none of the Cast has met or heard of one. I honestly
haven't made up my mind. Thing is, I have a lot of strong-willed
players... and they simply wouldn't enjoy playing second fiddle to one
person all the time. Perfectly understandable - I'd have a hard
time doing it as well. When you add in that they're mostly
experienced Call of
Cthulhu players... so we've ended up with an amalgam between the CoC
and BTVS. This surprised no-one.
- 1.3 Warp and Weave
is a side venture. Or was. Originally intended as a
side trek to help Erin's player get used to the magic thing (since I
noted she wasn't used to it) and to let another player play (even
though the main group's getting a bit big for me), it quickly morphed
into a full-fledged episode, with some important plot-type things in
there. Consider it my tribute to "The Zeppo". It may end up
being a spin-off, as 1.4 Present Presents
was the last "regularly scheduled"
episode. There's a good possiblity we could pick it back up
later, but for the nonce, it's in re-runs.
- I really enjoy creating and running BTVS-style
adventures. The
conceit of constructing it like a television show really forces a GM to
keep it short and snappy. Making it a series of connected
one-shots (with rare exception) allows for that sense of greater
purpose, but without the frequent problem I've had of a short period of
game time stretching over months of real time. It also means that
the clues leading to big bads needs to be done very *gradually*, which
makes things a lot better. It also makes things easier for the
players - for example, the Order of Gescitia has slowly taken shape,
allowing the characters whose history include it to gradually become
accustomed to it.
Notes about Morgantown
A note to realism buffs - this is an idealized
version of
Morgantown, WV from when I was growing up. I've left quite a bit out,
and
changed some things, and mixed up chronology. Feel free to verify
details - they just may not be right.
- High Schools - Morgantown High School (MHS) is
the only
still-solvent high school in town. University High closed a year ago,
St. Francis Catholic HS folded three years ago.
- WVU - biggest employer in town bar none. Has two
campuses
-Evansdale and Downtown. Downtown campus houses the Student Union (the
Mountainlair). Also runs the PRT, a small-car monorail system that
links the two campuses
- Dry House - All-ages bar downtown, hosts shows
from local and
occasionally national bands, indie, alt, goth, punk, metal.
- Underground RR - Next door wet-bar to Dry House,
similar theme
- The Met - an old theater downtown that's been
closed for over a
decade. Occassionally people can be seen going in and out of it, but
the doors are always locked.
- Hospitals: Ruby Memorial (part of WVU) and
Monongalia General
(public)
- Stillwell's Used Books - often called
"Stealwell's", it also
houses a small tea/coffee shop. Basically the only place in town to get
occult literature.
- Mike's Comics - Only real place in town to get
gaming stuff
- Mountaineer Mall - A mall. Very typical mall.
- Cemetaries - Many. Some new, some very old.
Pauper's Field is
located outside of town proper.
- Underground - WVU's downtown campus is heated by
steam; there are
tunnels for the steam under most of downtown. Entrances are not secret,
but not advertised nor widely known.
- EG&G - A Department of Defense and Department
of Energy contractor, with a large-ish site located on the edge of town.
