Argument Paper on Same Sex Marriage by S. JeweL Falcon
Is it truely a movement of civil rights, Is It really
Natural, Healthy, and Socially acceptable?  This is
one option with sightings from experts in the fields.

Part 1 of 6
        This is an argument paper writen by a collage student at Weber State
University who goes by the pen name of S JeweL Falcon.  It's purpose was for
an argument paper for an english wrighting class, so please take it in that
context.  I have split the paper up into sections for easier reading and
posting on Terranet General Chat.  This paper may be freely distributed in
it's entirety as long as it is not modified, parts are not omited, and proper
credit is given.

                  Same Sex Marriage in America
     The 1960's began a new era in American society which laid the foundation
of the sexual revolution.  As Dennis Altman stated in the New York newspaper
in 1982, "The 70s saw the beginning of the large-scale transition in the
status of homosexuality from a deviance or perversion to an alternate
lifestyle or minority," and continues to state their influence, "in the role
of the vanguard of social and sexual change . . . " (Dennis Altman, The
Homosexualization of America (New York N.P., 1982): 2, as cited in William
Dannemeyer, Shadow in the Land, p. 123).  This revolution has begun to work
its way into the very fabric of society, the family, as it continues to
demoralize our social structure.  This demoralization, and it's attack on the
family through same sex marriage, has come about through a small minority in
America aggressively forcing change on the public view of homosexuality as an
identity rather then an action thus making it easier for them to scream for
civil rights protection, and the redefining of social morality through ways
such as legal recognition of same sex marriage.
Part 2 of 6 Insurance or Civil Rights

      The main driving forces behind same sex marriage seem to be cries by
homosexuals for benefits of insurance coverage for their partners, equality
in civil rights for their social minority, legal benefit for the children of
there partners, and many other legal rights that come with marriage.  Same sex
marriage would definitely provide a lot of benefits and legal rights to those
with partners of the same sex, and their children.  However, to allow same sex
marriage would undermine the basic unit of social order, the family, and
further the destruction of social morality brought on by the sexual revolution,
and more specifically, the homosexual movement.  This can be easily shown
through facts that disprove many newly developing and socially acceptable
ideas about homosexuality, and the agendas of homosexual activists that lead
this movement.
     Homosexuals claim that they deserve the same basic civil rights as anyone
else, and should not be discriminated against because of who they are.  They
seem to say that all they want are equal rights, and the same equal
opportunities as any other human being should be allowed.  Peter LaBarbera
noted that it is not enough for homosexual activity to not be criminalized,
but to treat homosexuality as a civil right thus enabling the courts to allow
homosexual activity anywhere civil rights are protected.  They also "demand
legislation to prevent discrimination against Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and
Transgendered people in the areas of family diversity, custody, adoption and
foster care and that the definition of family includes the full diversity of
all family structures" (Peter LaBarbera, "In Their Own Words: What Gay
Activists are Demanding," Human Events 53 (May 1, 1993): 1).  The problem with
these demands is that they already share the same rights as everyone else, and
the degree of force involved in this movement will inevitably lead to a
violation of moral and religious rights of Americans who oppose homosexuality,
thus leading to the overall decay of society.  Those who oppose homosexuality
should not have this movement forced on them through government legislation
because of basic civil rights, the same civil rights protecting children from
being exposed to material deemed inappropriate by their parents, or protecting
individuals from being forcibly exposed to material and actions they see as
offensive, disgusting, and socially unacceptable.
Part 3 of 6 The Agressiveness and High Influance of a small group

     There are many good examples of this forced compliance to, and acceptance
of homosexual behavior, such as the fact that the homosexual community has
pushed the government to introduce homosexual information into the public
educational system (Robert H. Knight, "The Homosexual Agenda in Schools,"
Insight no. 11 (June 1993): 1. ), and that supervisors and managers at Robert
Achtenburg's U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development have been told
if they want career advancement they must take every opportunity to promote
homosexuality in or out of the workplace.  Homosexuals on state levels have
even been successful in changing longstanding laws prohibiting sodomy, and
have even attempted to force homosexuals into the leadership of the Boy Scouts
of America (Preston, The Big Gay Book, p. 34.).  These kinds of advances
cannot be allowed to continue in our society by any group or organization, and
a good place to stop this homosexual movement at this very moment is in the
fight over same sex marriage.
     There is a great amount of evidence to support that the Homosexual
community has greatly affected society today.  However, some may say that this
is not a problem in our democratic society because of the increasingly great
number of homosexuals in our society today.  This feeling is understandable
with the amount of coverage this issue gets in the media and the homosexual
community quoting Brian McNaught who cites the famous Kinsey reports -
Alfred C. Kinsey, Wardell B. Pomeroy, and Clyde E. Martin "Sexual Behavior in
the Human Male" Philadelphia: W. B. Sounders Company, 1948 and Alfred C.
Kinsey, Wardell B. Pomeroy, Clyde E. Martin and Paul H. Gebhard "Sexual
Behavior in the Human Female" Philadelphia: W. B. Sounders Company, 1953 - as
evidence that 10% of the population is homosexual (On Being Gay: A
Conversation with Brian McNaught (TRB Productions, 1986)).  In actuality these
numbers have been shown to be greatly exaggerated, and Researchers at the
Battelle Human Affairs Research Centers in Seattle have a much more accurate
study showing that approximately 2% of American men report they had sex with
another man, but only 1% consider themselves exclusively homosexual
("Dispelling the 10 Percent Myth," The Exodus Standard vol. 10 no. 2 (1993):
p. 9).  Why should we allow such a forceful movement to advance especially
when it campaigns for things that the Majority of Americans would otherwise
find repulsive, such as same sex marriage?
Part 4 of 6 Is It Natural or Selection

     Homosexual activists have claimed that homosexual behavior is natural
because it is in fact observable in nature.  Brain McNaught, while sighting a
study done in 1951 by Ford and Beach, states that "In every species of
mammal . . .  there is homosexual behavior . . . " (On Being gay: A
Conversation with Brain McNaught (TRB Productions, 1986).  A study done by
the U. S. Department of Agriculture, on the sexual behavior in sheep has been
cited by homosexual activists on occasion as evidence of homosexual behavior
in animals, but according to researchers, there is absolutely no relationship
between the behavior of sheep and humans ("Homosexual Sheep?" Parade (March 8,
1992): 8, as cited in Knight, "Video 'On Being Gay' Twists the Facts," p. 4-5)
Many religious leaders and organizations also believe that humans are not
merely physical, but also have a spiritual element, and if such is true then
science has no place to make such comparisons.  However, let's assume that
humans are merely the most advanced animals on the planet, and they did indeed
evolve from nature.  Thus if we accept homosexuality on this basis we would
have to be compelled to accept other natural occurring behavior by the same
merit, such as cannibalism, physical abuse of one's partner, and that in fact
through natural selection homosexuality will most likely be illuminated or
suppressed as it has been throughout the majority of societies, in known
history.  Therefore, I see no reason in this respect as to why our current
society should be forced to put up with the homosexual movement, and much less
allow same sex marriage.
     Within the last decade, homosexual activists have many times claimed
findings that show homosexuality as a genetic trait much like the color of
one's eyes, or the shape of one's ears.  This idea jumped into full view when
in August 1991, Dr. Simon LeVay of the Salk Institute in La Jolla reported
that homosexuals had a difference in a group of neurons in the brain, however
his hypothesis has not been repeatable by other scientists, LeVay has been
suspected of bias because of his own homosexuality, and all subjects he found
to be homosexual had also died of AIDS: a more probably reason for the
difference.  I personally have yet to find any studies that prove
homosexuality is genetic, despite increased efforts by many organizations that
have been influenced by the homosexual community, because most studies have
been inconclusive, disproving, tainted with bias, and/or lack sufficient
research to advance the hypothesis forward even to the status of a Theory.
Again, let us assume that homosexual activists are correct in stating that
homosexuality is a genetic trait.  By the same respect we might assume that
serial killers act how they do because of a genetic trait.  Does that excuse
their actions as a serial killer, or give reason why they shouldn't be treated
as socially dangerous?  Alcoholism has been shown to be genetic, but does that
allow the alcoholic to drive drunk, regardless of the danger of injury or
death it puts on others?  I would hope everyone would answer no to these
questions, and by the same respect I would hope the majority of people will
answer no to allowing homosexual to intermarry based on an idea that they are
born that way if it means the continued degradation of our societies moral
values, the family structure, and heightened health risks that come with
homosexual behavior.
     Many have said that homosexuality is who a person is, and it is not a
changeable trait.  Nothing could be further from the truth. Richard Isay, M.D.
Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Cornell Medical College and chair of APA's
Committee on Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Issues, has stated that there is a
"continuing conviction among most, although not all, dynamically oriented
psychiatrists in general and psychotherapists in particular, that
homosexuality can and should be changed to heterosexuality . . . " (Richard
Isay "Homosexuality and Psychiatry," Psychiatric News (Feb. 7, 1992): 3, as
cited in Knight, "Video 'On Being Gay' Twists the Facts," p. 7.). The truth is
that a tremendous number of homosexuals have changed. "Not only has Joseph
Nicolosi published material on homosexual change and done extensive counseling
with homosexuals, but he is also part of an organization of clinical
psychologists who believe that homosexuality can be changed" (Joseph Nicolosi,
Reparative Therapy of Male Homosexuality (Northvale, NJ: Jason Aronson, Inc.),
1991. as cited in Richard G Howe, "Homosexuality in America: Exposing the

Part 5 of 6 Immoral or Healthy and Happy

      Many think that homosexuals aren't necessarily any more immoral then
anyone else, but rather are fairly normal healthy people that merely have a
different sexual preference then most.  Many homosexual activists seem to
think they would do just as well as parents, and often tell of how children
would be better with homosexual couples then in abusive families.  A study in
1985 concluded that "homosexual acts were involved in 25% to 40% of the cases
of child molestation." (Paul Cameron, W. Coburn, Jr. et. al, "Child
Molestation and Homosexuality," Psychological Reports 58 (1986): 327-337, as
cited in Knight, "Video 'On Being Gay' Twists the Facts," p. 6.).  That is no
more then 10% by the before mentioned over inflated study, committing at least
25% of child molestation, compared to the remaining population, 90%,
committing no more then 75% of child molestations, and likely less.  Richard
G. Howe sights another study by "Dr. Paul Cameron and colleagues conducted
research on 6,714 obituaries from 16 United States homosexual journals from
1981-1993 as compared to a large sample of obituaries from regular newspapers.
. . .  The disgusting details of the homosexual lifestyle explain why so many
diseases are present in the homosexual community.  There can be no doubt that
the homosexual lifestyle is a dangerous one (Cameron; Playfair, and Wellum,
"The Lifespan of Homosexuals," a paper presented at the Eastern psychological
Association Convention, April 17, 1993, as cited in Cameron, Medical
Consequences).  Though it may be the case that some of the dangers for
homosexuals (e.g., murder rates) stem from the fact that the overwhelming
majority of homosexuals are concentrated in large metropolitan areas with its
attendant hazards, it remains that these medical dangers have everything to do
with the homosexual lifestyle and not with where homosexuals happen to live"

allow Children to grow up with constant exposure to a lifestyle that has been
shown to be very unhealthy, and thus should not allow this lifestyle to be
displayed in the family structure in any form: especially marriage.  Dr.
Pruett stated the following during a court case in Hawaii's first circuit
court over same sex marriage that "in terms of probability, same-sex marriages
are more likely to provide a more burdened nurturing domain" (Ninia Baehr,
Genora Dancel, Tammy Rodrigues, Antoninette Pregil, Pat Lagon, and Joseph
Melillo, vs. Lawrence H. Miike, in his official capacity as Director of the
Department of Health, State of Hawaii, Civil No. 91-1394 in the first circuit
court of the State of Hawaii as cited on the internet at http://www.calico-
company.com/formbostom/chang.htm) This case contains the testimony of other
doctors that testify a child is most likely better off if it has both male and
female parental figures.
Part 6 of 6 The Religion and Stats

      Homosexual activists have even gotten into religious debates to prove
that religious groups and organizations have no official Christian source to
prove that Homosexuality is wrong.  Richard G. Howe, a graduate from
Mississippi College with a B.A. in Bible, with an M.A. in Philosophy from the
University of Mississippi, states that this is simply not the case,"Amazingly,
there are those in the homosexual community who advance the notion that the
Bible is either indifferent on the subject, or actually allows for the
expression of homosexual love...that homosexuality is condemned by the Law of
Moses (Leviticus 18:22; 20:13), that the male and female relationship is the
only sexual relationship allowed by Jesus (Matthew 19:4-6), and that
homosexuality (as well as lesbianism) is condemned by Paul (Romans 1:24-27).
One may argue that homosexuality is not immoral and that the Bible is wrong.
Indeed, this would be a more intellectually honest position, but it is clear
that the Bible condemns homosexuality" (Richard G Howe, "Homosexuality in

     Homosexuality in America is for the most part unacceptable to a large
number of Americans, and would be for nearly all if Homosexual activists, and
organizations weren't hiding the truth of the average homosexual's lifestyle
from the American society.  Records compiled by the Wall Street Journal have
shown that homosexuals are one of the most influential groups in America.  The
average Homosexual compared to the national average, make twenty-three
thousand dollars more income, have a 42% higher collage graduation rate, 49%
hold management positions compared to a 16% national average, and 66% have
taken over seas vacations compare with a 14% national average.  A similar
report shows that there are 7.2 times more cancer patients yearly, as of 1992
than a predominantly homosexual disease, AIDS, but AIDS research got more than
$3000.00 more per patient (from the Freedom Heritage Forum as cited in

homosexuals/AIDS gets big bucks in research, http://www.afa.net/homosexuality
/toc.htm).  A 1972 study by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, states that
half of the homosexuals in America have had more than 500 different sexual
partners, and that AIDS victims average 1,100 different sexual partners.
Another study by two Homosexual researchers showed that 73% of adult male
homosexuals had sex with boys 19 years old or younger, 92% have had oral and
anal sex, 17% have eaten and/or rubbed themselves with the feces of their
partner, 29% have urinated on or in their partners, 37% have engaged in
sadomasochism, and 15% have had sex with animals (Published by The Berean
League, June 1991, 2875 Snelling Ave. N., St. Paul, MN 55113 as cited in

consider that the majority of Americans don't have problems with homosexual
behaviors?  Many homosexual marches have shown us that homosexuals behave in
very abnormal way when demonstrating, and can we expect to be any better in
the privacy of there own homes?  Can we allow children to be brought up in
these kinds of physically and mentally unhealthy conditions?  As Congressmen
William Dannemeyer commented, "Homosexuals were . . . diverting attention from
the one aspect of their cause that was most vulnerable: their sexual habit.
Most people simply found the idea of homoerotic behavior disgusting . . . But
the homosexuals were well aware of how ignorant the general public was
concerning their practices, and their campaign to establish the predetermined
nature of their 'sexual orientation.'" (William Dannemeyer, Shadow in the

needs to wake up, and get to the heart of the homosexual movement, a movement
that can and will destroy the very fibers of our society and moral beliefs,
and the best place to start to oppose this movement is with the issue of same
sex marriage.
