An acquaintance of mine came up to me today, and said (pretty close to direct quote):

"Welp, with all those people dying in Iraq, old Georgie-boy is gonna have some trouble getting a renewal on his contract!"

This was said in a joking manner, with no bit of sarcasm.

In the interests of making sure that nobody here is confused, I'd like to repeat what I told him, also without any hint of sarcasm.

If I had to decide between George W. Bush getting re-elected and another person dying in Iraq, the man would be re-elected tomorrow.

Unfortunately, I cannot make that choice. Instead, I can try to do what I can to preserve the lives of as many of our servicemembers and Iraqi nationals as possible. We had a chance to rebuild that country, and instead of doing it right, he handed it over to hand-picked appointees and his buddies' corporate interests - and now we're in a world of hurt over it.

But nothing is worth them losing thier lives over a lie.
